Last week I was feeling rather run down, overcome with tiredness and stress as most working mothers are these days, and when I’m at my lowest physically and mentally I can always count on getting the odd spot or two!. Normally the odd spot does not phase me, except if I have to attend some kind of social function or be in front of the camera for my TV show work, but with a full week of social events and filming looming ahead that week I panicked slightly as a huge red volcanic crater of a spot appeared on my chin.

So I dialled Harley Street for help: “Don’t worry about it Antonia” said the reassuring tone of Dr. Sach Mohan, “Come in and see us and we can help you”, so moments later an eager-eyed Antonia turned up at The Revere Clinic on Harley Street, to be met with a rather sophisticated piece of machinery gently humming away in the corner of the room with it’s engine running full of promise whilst it’s master gently cleansed and prepped my skin.

Moments later Dr. Mohan asked me to sit in the treatment chair whilst he approached me with a hand held device looking carefully at my spot with the kind of concentration only an artist can relish, he finally placed the device on my spot, I was asked to close my eyes (an instruction even I find hard to do without some unease) and Zap! I felt an elastic band type ping in the area where my spot sat, I sat waiting for another ping! but Dr. Mohan chirped, “that’s it all done!” and passed me a held mirror to examine my face, the bright red lumpy spot that had sat there a few seconds had fast shrunk in size and now become a dark red.

“Wow! how awesome” were my first three words, as I stared in disbelief, the painful lumpiness had instantly gone and so had that bright red shiny bumpy appearance to the spot, so what had happened?.

I’d just been zapped with a fantastic piece of technology other wise known as the V Beam Laser by Syneron Candela, and  what a discovery I must admit.  Dr. Mohan explained: “this technology basically speeds up the healing process of your spot Antonia, what the laser does is get to the root or base of the spot, kill the bacteria, reduce the inflammation and swelling and basically fast forward the healing process of your spot by 3 or 4 days, so what you are seeing now is basically your spot the way it would have naturally developed after 3 to 4 days, we’ve just done a ‘fast forward’ for you via the V Beam, which means you don’t have that uncomfortable feeling and large swollen redness which caused you the anxiety you were feeling when you arrived, so you can put some make-up on with a little more confidence now”.

The feeling of relief was immense, I was able to cover the spot with some mineral make up and continue  about my day feeling a little less self-conscious and a tad more confident about facing the week ahead.

Whilst the V Beam laser certainly holds great promise for those suffering more extreme skin conditions, and not just the odd spot, Dr. Mohan did state that models, actresses and a vast array of celebrities will turn to his V Beam treatments if they need emergency S.O.S on-the-spot treatment for a naughty zit, I can quite understand this, who in the celebrity world would want to turn up to a red carpet premiere, or paparazzi filled celebrity party with a huge noticeable spot waving a big hello at everyone? Dr. Mohan says “it’s a very popular treatment, even brides will turn to for any last minute perfecting before their big day, it’s safe, pain-free, and a real skin hero”.

It’s not just your spots that the V Beam laser shrinks though, at £120 a zap per zit, the plastic on your credit card may melt a little too.
