Wow, fitness really is big business isn’t it?
The Body Power Expo held at The NEC last weekend on the 16th, 17th, and 18th May, played perfect testimony to this fact, with a predicted 80,000 visitors passing through an epic three days of fitness, fun and discovery.
Hailed as the fastest growing consumer exhibition in Europe, the event drew in tens of thousands of health and fitness enthusiasts from around the globe, some purchasing VIP tickets to ensure they had maximum staying power for the whole three day event. Body Power Expo is relentless and so are the visitors.
The event offers something for any fitness enthusiast, no matter what level they are at, whether amateur or pro, the provides a premier visitor experience with countless international athletes and industry renowned experts, extensive exhibition, interactive feature areas and breath taking competitions.
If you can get over the never ending sight of scantily clad toned females displaying their gym honed assets and the slight stench of testorone at the semi naked and fake tanned muscly men parade their wares around, you’ll be ok, in fact by the end of the day I garuntee you’ll be so enthusiastic at the prospect of bodily perfection that you’ll be buying fitness wear and eating the latest protein mousse, (ok I confess I did).
I visited the event to support fitness wear brand Proskins (intelligent apparel) who had already sold out of their new line of tie dye leggings by Sunday lunchtime. I must admit it is slightly bizarre being their stand poster girl and seeing a gigantic 8ft x 8ft poster staring back at me, but chuffed I was none the less, and if there was any place you could be comfortable flaunting it, this event was fitting.
2014 has been my year of ‘fit and fabulous’, where I have immersed myself into a more active way of living, I’ve made no secret of the fact I work out at least 4 times a week to ‘Insanity Beach Body’ Classes, and I have certainly noticed incredible benefits not only to my shape, and weight, but also to my skin health and my mental health too, and let’s face it we all could do with a little balance there given the pace of modern living.
I was the girl whole failed at Physical Education, so resigned was my mother to me protesting at the weekly gym lesson at school or annual hockey competition that she used to write me ‘excuse notes’ for a whole term at a time.
I wonder what my P.E teacher (and mother) would say now if they saw me wondering the halls of the toned, fit and fabulous with childish glee and excitement….
