More than a third of Brits would seriously think about having some form of cosmetic procedure but most would still stop short of invasive surgery, according to new research.

Polling company YouGov’s survey on plastic surgery found that 38% of UK consumers would ‘seriously consider’ a procedure but among those people, the most popular options were teeth whitening (21%), laser eye treatment (15%) and teeth straightening (9%).

Most Brits would also choose to stay at home for surgery, with only 16% of those who wanted a procedure saying they would be willing to consider going abroad, even if prices were considerably cheaper.

Reassuringly, only a small minority (2%) said that the suggestion to have a cosmetic procedure had come from their partner, with the vast majority saying they alone would make the decision.
