Aneva Derma Nutritional Skin Beverage is a food supplement capsule containing collagen and hyaluronic acid for an “integrated approach to skin rejuvenation”, say its manufacturers. Aneva say it is unrivalled by any competitor in today’s market, because of its unique combination of high potency and targeted antioxidants in combination with pharma grade bovine collagen and hyaluronic acid.
Being in the profession I’m in, obviously I’m fully aware of how essential collagen and hyaluronic acid are to youthful looking skin. The manufacturers claim that this supplement differs from others on the market because 95% of it is absorbed into the system. Older skin is depleted in hyaluronic acid, as with age we lose the ability to produce it which results in a loss of skin volume and consequent wrinkles. Collagen is also essential to the firmness and elasticity of our skin but alas as we age our collagen levels are reduced.
The supplement also contains green tea extract, Vitamin C, zinc and copper to name but a few from its anti ageing weaponry. I’m excited about Aneva’s claims - after all, there’s nothing simpler than taking a supplement to firm and plump the skin, and I’m in favour of anything that improves the skin along with the lotions and potions we slather on in our quest for eternal youth.
But, does it work? Well, it does have a good amount of collagen and hylauronic acid, results start to show between 6 and 12 weeks after starting the supplement.
It’s not a cheap option, at around £110 for 30 days supply, but because things that are applied topically to the skin are never fully absorbed, taking a supplement like this is a great way to tackle ageing because of the reasonable absorption rate. I reviewed the supplement for 3 months and am pleased with the results. It does make a huge different to your skin to increase hydration on any level (non alcoholic of course!) but it helps when the supplement you take has been clinically proven to be effective.
I am a vegetarian and Aneva does contain bovine sourced Collagen, this did not phase me, as I had only just turned vegetarian when I started the review, but if you are a Vegan or Vegetarian I thought it sensible to point it out. I wouldn’t continue taking it beyond my trial review because of the bovine source, but it is clearly indicated on the container, so credit for the transparency.
I have to be honest and say that the areas I felt aided the most by this product were my actual bones and joints, don’t ask me why! but I do tend to feel the odd ache and twinge on my treadmill namely around the hips and thighs but I found this eased off over the three month review, worth considering if you are a hardcore gym bunny. I have been told that running and high impact cardio will take it’s long term toll on the bones, and the older we get the more we need to prevent and protect,
The best way to take the supplement is by mixing one level scoop of product together with water or juice, just before you go to bed at night, Lorna Bowes, Director of Aesthetic Source, (distributors of the product) claims that it is when your “fibroblasts responsible for cellular regeneration are at their most active”, alas, I confess I did occasionally forget to take my supplement before going to bed, so I sneakily added it to my Nutribullet smoothie the next day so I didn’t feel like I was missing out, but stick to the night plan as Lorna says, it is much more effective.
Aneva Derma represents a new era of skincare, many companies now including Aneva are paving the way for an integral approach to staying young and feeling your best, I like this philosophy, it’s sensible one. There is no quick fix solution to staying and looking young, it’s a blend of may approaches and products that work well together.
A credible approach to beauty (in my opinion) is one that starts within. The Aneva Derma team are on a mission dedicated to anti ageing, wellness and nutrition and they are passionate when it comes to speaking to the public on how to separate the hype from the real deal.
