My tips on how to remove your make up properly
A few tips on cleansing your skin at night, we’re all guilty of leaving our make-up on sometimes as we are too tired, but it’s a huge beauty no-no!…
- I’m not a big fan of make up removing wipes, however if you are tired or in a rush I will let you off! in this case then try make-up removing wipes, like Garnier Refreshing Remover Cleansing Towelettes, these are ideal for removing all types of makeup because you can see your progress, I prefer gentle cleansers in conjunction with cotton pads, the choice is yours but whatever you do you must remove your make-up with a gentle effective cleansing system, before you head to bed.
- Take your time with the your cotton pad with cleanser or your cleansing wipe, one of the biggest mistakes women make is to rush and this is where residual make up that has not been removed properly can cause all sort of skin problems, so go slowly. Lay your cleansing wipe, or cleansing cotton wool pad across your face and hold it there for a few moments. Then use back and forth motions all over, don’t rub vigorously there is no need, make sure you get all the way up to the hairline and down beneath your chin and jaw line.
- Use one side of your cotton wool pad or cleansing wipe completely. Once there is no more clean space, flip it over and wipe. If you wipe clean on the second side, you’re good to go. If not, reach for a new pad or cleansing wipe and continue to remove your makeup until you’re makeup-free. A virtually clean cleansing wipe or cotton wool pad will indicate you’ve cleaned your face well.
- Thoroughly wash your face, don’t assume because you have cleansed your face that is is now truly clean and make up free, wrong! you need to wash your face preferably with a cleansing milk product or a good cleansing oil like The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil. Oils and milks clean deep down and dissolve makeup. I also suggest that you use and invest in a professional skin care line such as Neostrata, or Prescribed Solutions, there are others please do ask us.
- For really heavy makeup, you may want to rinse and repeat. As long as you are using a gentle oil or milk cleanser, double cleansing will not dry out your skin.
- Finally, use plenty of enriching and hydrating serum or cream after and that should do the trick. Good clean skin helps to keep your skin younger and healthier longer.
